Joseph Bristow

Joseph Bristow is Distinguished Professor of English at the University of California, Los Angeles. His recent books include (with Rebecca N. Mitchell) Oscar Wilde’s Chatterton: Literary History, Romanticism, and the Art of Forgery (Yale University Press, 2015) and an edited collection, Oscar Wilde and the Cultures of Childhood (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017). He is completing a study of the Crown prosecution of Oscar Wilde. From 1997 to 2007, he was joint editor of Nineteenth-Century Literature (University of California Press), and from 2010 to 2015 he was joint editor of the Journal of Victorian Culture.

Catherine Maxwell

Catherine Maxwell is Professor of Victorian Literature at Queen Mary University of London, and author of The Female Sublime from Milton to Swinburne: Bearing Blindness (Manchester University Press, 2001), Swinburne (Northcote House, 2006), Second Sight: The Visionary Imagination in Late Victorian Literature (Manchester University Press, 2008), and numerous articles on Victorian literature. She was a Leverhulme Major Research Fellow for 2014–2016, during which time she completed Scents and Sensibility: Perfume in Victorian Literary Culture (Oxford University Press, 2017), which received the 2018 ESSE (European Society for the Study of English) award for Literatures in English.
